A new roof is one of the biggest bills a homeowner faces — and the insurance side is deliberately confusing. We built RoofCompass to make both legible.
What we do
RoofCompass is a set of free calculators for US homeowners: what a roof replacement costs by material and size, how many squares and bundles you need, whether your insurance is likely to cover storm damage, and — the part almost no one explains clearly — what your actual claim payout will be once depreciation and your deductible are applied.
How we’re different
We don’t sell your information to contractors. There’s no “enter your email for a quote” gate. Every calculator shows its math and cites its sources, so you can sanity-check a roofer’s bid or an insurer’s offer with an independent number. Our goal is to put you in the room better informed, not to harvest a lead.
The honest fine print
These are planning estimates, not measured quotes or coverage determinations. Roofing is local and policies vary — always get written quotes from licensed, insured roofers and confirm coverage with your insurer. See our methodology for exactly how we calculate, and our disclaimer for the limits.
